2 under 2: More Firsts....

Well, we had two more "Firsts" here this past weekend....

Drake got his first (but certainly not last) Fat Lip - complete with a cut right down the center.

And Gabby got her first Haircut!  Brandon and I were nervous as she's not one to sit still, but she did awesome. She sat on my lap and watched the girl(s) blow bubbles and was happy as can be.  She laughed a little when the scissors tickled her neck and tried to grab them once when they were cutting her bangs - but other than that she was an angel!

Wheeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

We received a wonderful gift from my side of the family for Christmas - a gift certificate to a local hotel which also happens to have a neat indoor waterpark.  We, along with Grandma Dawn (we never turn down backup help!) took the kids one weekend in February.  Brandon and Grandma were able to take 1/2 days of vacation, so we beat the crowds and went Friday afternoon.

This was Drake's first time being in a pool, but knowing how much he loves to take baths we assumed he'd love it as much as we knew his sister would.   He had a great time - he was either floating around in his inflatable giraffe or being swam around by one of the adults.  He had it made - I think if he would've had his own pool girl to bring him warm towels and a margarita - he would've never come home.

Gabby was in heaven.  She loved the slides and (surprise, surprise) loved the giant slides.  Brandon took her the first time and I could hear her from the top: Wheeeeeeee, Wheeeeeeee, WHEEEEEEE!!!  Needless to say her dad and I were exhausted by the end of the day from carrying her up the stairs...over, and over, and over again!

We had a great weekend - one that we can't wait to relive next Winter!!

G&D Rooms

I realized I've never posted a picture of Drake's room.  So I thought I better do that.  Thank you Restoration Hardware Baby - this is where the majority of items in his room and the inspiration came from.

We posted a few of Gabby's room before she was born.  Gabby's has transformed - now amongst the pink and green are a few of her own personal touches; her "bwankie" - a blanket given to her by her Aunt Molly which she has a special attachment to.  You'll also notice a nice "tent" above her bed - this is what you do when your toddler learns to climb out of her crib way before she (or Mommy and Daddy) are ready for her to be in a toddler bed.

Each child has a memory box with their name on it given to them by my dear friend Laura - along with this they have personalized pewter cups which were gifts by their Great Grandma Martha.  Drake has his first baseball glove - given to him by none other than his namesake, Grandpa Jeff.

Let the countdown begin....

We are counting down to a lot of things around here - Spring, Swimming Pools, Walks to the Park, Feeding the ducks....basically anything that will allow us to un-cage our 2 monkeys!

Drake has changed so much just in the past month.  It's like one night we put him to bed a baby and he woke up the next morning as a big boy.  He is officially "Falking" - our term for Falling/Walking.  He is as busy as his sister - yes, that's possible.  He's not quite as daring as she was at this age - so that's a good thing.  He is still my little chatter-box, which we can't get enough of.  His favorite things (in no particular order) are: Bananas, Kinnick, Gabby, Yo Gabba Gabba, Banging objects on our wood floors, baths, getting tickled by Daddy and BALLS.  The kid goes nuts for any type of ball - baseball, basketball, football, giant oversized princess ball (hey, we don't discriminate), he loves them.  He will spend a lot of his time in the afternoon either pushing the ball and then crawling to go retreive it - only to push it again.  Now that the sun shines in the afternoon - I often hear him and Kinnick having their afternoon "talk" while laying on Kinnick's bed in the sun that's shining in through the front door.  They are buddies.

Gabby has too changed a lot - since Christmas she has become quite the girly-girl.  She loves to try on shoes - and often will come out to the living room in my Ugg Boots or her dads tennis shoes.  We recently bought her a pair of dress-up shoes so she enjoys parading around in them.  She is getting a little more interested in her brother - mostly because he is now wanting to be wherever she is and can actually keep up with her!  On a recent playdate we went to a friends house that had 2 cats and Gabby was in Heaven.  It was the first time she has been around cats and you would've though she had won the lottery - she ran around chasing them saying: kitteeeeee, kitteeeeee.  Those poor cats.

Some of the things Gabby enjoys (in no particular order) are:  Mickey Mouse, Cheese, Counting to 10, Floating in the Bathtub, Taking walks in the stroller, Waiting at the front door for Daddy to come home, Tag Jr, Tents and Snakes.  Gabby LOVES snakes!

It's hard to believe that next month marks Birthday(s) for our babies - an event that is always bittersweet for Brandon and I.  While we are overwhelmingly blessed, it's hard to let your babies grow up....and they seem to do it right before our eyes.
